Sam McDonald’s AMA Superbike Debut (1982)

Sam McDonald (No. 29) races a factory Honda against fellow Honda rider Roberto Pietri (No. 88) at Moroso Motorsports Park in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the 1982 AMA Superbike finale. It was Sam’s AMA Superbike debut and he turned in an outstanding performance finishing just off the podium in fourth, one place in front of Kawasaki’s Eddie Lawson. That was all Honda needed to see and Sam became one of the factory support riders for Honda the next season. 📷Gary Van Voorhis
