Veteran flat track photographer Len Breech was good enough to send me a few photos to feature on The Rider Files. This one is of racer Nick Taylor(43) doing what Len aptly described as a “tire dive” at an indoor short track event.

Nick Taylor nearly flips upside down after getting tangled with another rider at an indoor flat track event. (Len Breech photo)
Hey that’s me. That picture was taken in the fall of 1978 at the old Timonium, MD fairgrounds indoor short track we called the “quanset hut”. I can’t tell you how I got in that particular position as I’m pretty sure it defies physics but I can tell you I was running second behind Rodney Farris in the 125cc class on my Honda Elsinore. We came up on a lapped rider {Larry Kiser} in the closing laps and while Rodney managed to slip past him I managed to hit him square in the rear tire causing forward momentum to suddenly become upward momentum. Great memories from a real fun time in my life. Thanks, Nick Taylor
