Nick Ienatsch Hits a Triple at Road Atlanta (1989)

Nick Ienatsch, then Motorcyclist magazine’s feature editor, began his winning streak at the 1989 WERA GNF at Road Atlanta with back-to-back victories on Thursday. The Utah native turned Southern Californian rode Don McCullough’s D&J Racing Group Honda RS125R to the win in a damp Formula 3 race (pictured). Ienatsch diced early on with defending F-3 champ Al Lainhart on his two-stroke, twin-cylinder I25cc MBA, but Lainhart had problems and faded to sixth. Ienatsch then won the Clubman title on a Yamaha SRX600 and finally he scored victory in Sunday’s D Superbike aboard a Yamaha FZR400. (Larry Lawrence photo)
