David McClain waiting at the starting gate of his home Houston Supercross in March of 1984. McClain gave hometown fans a lot of cheer for in a Quarter-Final race where he led until the closing lap when he stalled his bike in a corner and was passed for the lead. McClain had a tough time qualifying for Supercross events, but the Houston racer scored seven top-10 AMA Motocross National finishes from the late 1970s to mid-’80s. His best result was a fifth overall in the High Point 500cc National in ’84. (Pat McClure photo)
