A fun promotional shot of off-road great Larry Roeseler ahead of the 1992 Virginia City Grand Prix. Roeseler had won the prestigious desert racing event five years in a row, so promoters issued a bounty (using this photo in an ad announcing the bounty), awarding two silver bars to anyone who could beat Roeseler at the Nevada off-road race. As it turns out Roeseler had some problems, crashing while trying to pass another rider. After that he was caught up in traffic and forced to try to race through very dusty conditions. That opened the door for Suzuki rider Rodney Smith to come through to win the race and the bounty. (Cycle News photo) #larryroeseler #virginiacitygrandprix #bounty #teamgreen #oldwest #desertracing
great race! We road it in the 1970’s.
we turned our flat trackers into winter bikes with 21” front wheels and nobbies.
I road a bultacco 350, my friend ride a maico 350. 25 mile laps? Long time ago.
then drank at some old bar. Good memories!!!
