Motocross at Road Atlanta (1996)

With MotoAmerica visiting Road Atlanta this coming weekend I find it interesting that for years the track also hosted motocross races. There were AMA MX Nationals there in the early 1970s and again in the early ’80s. And even more recent MX events like this Trans-MX Series race in 1996. This is Dale Deaton (54) who won both 40+ motos over Kenny Hall (9) at Road Atlanta in Round 7 of the Trans-MX Series in August of 1996. You can see the characteristic red clay (which I’m sure some of you still have the stains from on shoes and shocks) and the old tower of Road Atlanta. (Gary Crider photo)
