Just scanned this photo of Doug Polen from 1992. Polen had a unique cornering style where he did not lean off the side of the saddle, but simply stuck his knee out. But look how far his Ferracci Ducati 888 is leaned over. The fairing is just about to scrape. It worked for the Texan who won two World Superbike titles, as well as an AMA Superbike championship.
