Sears Point AMA Superbike Battle (1982)

Rolling back the clock 41 years (can you believe it?) to Sears Point Raceway (now called Sonoma Raceway) and the 1982 AMA Superbike race at the Northern California circuit. Mike Baldwin (No. 43) leads a talent-heavy group that includes Wes Cooley (No. 34 Yoshimura Katana), Steve Wise (No. 38 factory Honda), Wayne Rainey (No. 60 factory Kawasaki), Jon Woo (No. 140 Kawasaki), Roberto Pietri (No. 88 factory Honda) and Harry Klinzmann (No. 31 Racecrafters Kawasaki). Baldwin went on to win the race over Klinzmann and Wise. Not a good day for the factory Kawasaki squad. Rainey was leading when he crashed on the final lap and Eddie Lawson didn’t even compete, nursing an injured back from a crash at Laguna Seca a month earlier.
