Moto-Journalist Larry Lawrence as a Cartoonist

Doing a move and came across this gem in my old hanging folder files. It was my very feeble attempt at drawing a humorous cartoon.

A lot of inside jokes here, but I think I sketched this cartoon for the entertainment of my friend and Cycle News Editor Paul Carruthers. I’m sure I faxed it to him (remember those?).

It was based around when Freddie Spencer first made his comeback in AMA Superbike at Miami. He came back a tad out of shape and I had a bit of fun with that at Freddie’s expense (sorry Freddie). Paul predicted Freddie would win going away and I said he’d be lucky to finish the race and I think we placed a small bet on it. I won.

I think this was my first and last attempt at being a cartoonist and based on this example I think it was best for everyone involved. – Larry Lawrence

Moto-Journalist Larry Lawrence had a little fun attempting to be a cartoonist when Freddie Spencer made his racing comeback in the AMA Superbike race on the streets of Miami. Apologies to my good friend Freddie for this. :)
