Yamaha’s Nori Haga leads a talented group of riders through the Corkscrew in the 1998 World Superbike Championship round at Laguna Seca Raceway. Giving chase to Haga in WSBK race one are Doug Chandler (No. 110), Akira Yanagawa (No. 4), Mat Mladin (66), Carl Fogarty (2), Aaron Slight (No. 111) and Jamie Hacking (No. 92). This was a golden era of World Superbike where the series challenged MotoGP in terms of outright popularity and it was bolstered in America by many of the AMA Superbike Championship regulars competing as wildcards in the Laguna event. Troy Corser won the first race over Yanagawa and Chandler. Haga came back and won race two ahead of Corser and Ben Bostrom.
