Stevie Patterson leads Ray Yoder in a WERA National Sprint race at Indianapolis Raceway Park in August of 1992. This is likely a WERA/Dunlop Superstock race, but I’m not certain which class. Patterson raced in all three Dunlop Superstock classes (1100, 750 and 600). He finished fifth in the 1100 class, second behind Tripp Nobles in the 750 class (and just ahead of Yoder, so maybe this is in fact 750), and runner-up again in the 600 class to J. Andrew Milton. This photo shows riders going through the carousel section of the old IRP road course. It was the area where almost all the spectators watched the races, either on the grandstands along the dragstrip or against the fence around the outside of the track’s most well-known turn.

Brings back memories. IRP was fast and just a blast to race at. I remember sliding toward the guardrail outside

I recall blowing up some hay bales in that turn.

You wouldn’t be the only one. Gary Gibson once blasted them all to hell on his Honda Hurricane while battle for Honda money in a C Prod. race.
