The Eagles tune “Life in the Fast Lane” could have been written about this guy, Juan Garriga. He burned the candle on both ends as they say. A racer, who had a very racy life off the track as well complete with drug trafficking and possessing illegal weapons as part of his portfolio. This photo was from 1986 when Garriga was a factory rider with Cagiva. Garriga scored a couple of top-10 finishes that year for the Italian maker. He was better known for his skills on the 250s. He finished runner-up to Sito Pons in the 1988 250cc Grand Prix World Championships, taking three wins along the way.

No doubt Mark. Some of the stories I’ve been told about a few of the early 1980s AMA Superbike racers would make one helluva ESPN “30 for 30”.
