Atlanta’s Black Streak Racers

Motorcycle Racing Historian David L. Morrill, with the assistance of fellow historian and writer Stephen Wright, unsurfaced some long forgotten articles about a small group of African-American riders who raced in the board track era. Morrill followed the trail of some of those same riders, who later raced at Atlanta’s Lakewood Speedway. I found this a fascinating read and feel admiration for those pioneering black riders who found a way to race in spite of the obstacles they faced in the Jim Crow era.
