The Ultra-Talented Nick Cummings

Nick Cummings is one of the most naturally gifted flat trackers I ever had the privilege to watch race. My most vivid memory of Cummings was watching him in 2008 on the cushion of Darke County Fairgrounds riding his Honda Pro Oils/TCR/Sunoco Harley-Davidson XR750 in the AMA Grand National up at the very top of the track in the turns, often brushing the haybales with his rear tire at triple-digit speed, as he blasted wide open around Greenville’s Half-Mile. It was one of the most spectacular displays of riding I’d ever witnessed.  This photo is Cummings racing the national at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan in 2006.
