Royale Racing had two entries in the WERA/EBC Brakes National Endurance race at Gateway International in April of 1989 and they happened to be racing together when this photo was taken. You can see Doug Henry on the Royale Racing Yamaha FZR600 just entering the apex of the turn. Behind him is Royale II’s Doug McIntosh on a Suzuki Katana 600. It was a good day for both teams. Royale with Henry and Jim East, won the Mediumweight Superbike class that day and finished second overall to the Human Race Team! On a tight track like Gateway it was possible for a 600cc sportbike to run with the open-class bikes. Royale II, with McIntosh and Frank Knight, took second in the Mediumweight Production class.
