Hall and his Honda Ends Russell’s Streak

Scott Russell had a 15-race winning streak to start the 1988 club racing season, but it came to an end on May 1, 1988 at Roebling Road Raceway in the WERA C Production final. In that race Kurt Hall used the superior power of his Honda Hurricane to outrun Russell and a slew of other Suzuki Katana 600 riders running for generous Suzuki contingency money. In this photo Hall (No. 60) leads Russell (No. 22), Jamie James (No. 58), Paul Bray (No. 11), Mike Smith (No. 19) and unknown rider No. 39. Hall won the race over Russell, Bray, Smith and James. After the race Russell was quoted as saying, “As soon as these guys quit running the Hondas, us Suzuki rider can start winning some serious money.”
