Peris in Elkhart Lake (2005)

Chris Peris, who was just 18 at the time, races his Yamaha Canada R6 at Road America in June of 2005 en route to an eighth-place finish in the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei. Peris scored seven top-10 finishes in Supersport that season, with a sixth at Pikes Peak his top result. He finished the season ranked 10th in the championship. You might notice how compressed Peris’ Yamaha looks in this photo. I was shooting with a massive old manual focus 800mm Nikon at this race without a monopod. Any veteran photographers know how much that beast of a lens weighs. After that weekend I don’t think I could lift my left arm for a couple of days.
