Jari Suhonen, aboard his Arwidson Yamaha OW01, leads a pack onto the long front straight at Brainerd International Raceway in the American round of the World Superbike Championship on June 10, 1990. All the riders are trying to stand the bike up on the center of the tire as quickly as possible to obtain max acceleration out of the turn and onto the straightaway. Others in the group include Davide Tardozzi (No. 71) Team Bike 2000 Ducati, Doug Chandler (No. 37) on a Muzzy Kawasaki, Rob McElnea (No. 19) on the Loctite Yamaha, Thomas Stevens (No. 51) Vance & Hines Yamaha and Anders Andersson (No. 5) on the Team Yamaha Sweden entry. World Superbike ran for three years at Brainerd (1989-’91) and attracted the largest crowds ever to watch a motorcycle race at the venue.
