Coatesville, Pennsylvania (February 10, 2011) – Scott Powersports/DR.D’s Johnny Lewis is preparing his run at the 2011 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship (GNC). Following his first full season last year, earning an impressive tenth in the GNC series, he’s ready to take the momentum to get on the podium throughout this season.

Lewis’ flat track program with Scott Powersports is similar to the 2010 season with a few improvements and some new sponsors. The Monster Energy athlete will again compete on a custom Kawasaki 650 Ninja flat tracker in half-mile and mile Twins races and on a Honda CRF450R in short track and TT Singles races. With a season of development under their belt, Scott Powersports and Lewis expect their Kawasaki 650 flat tracker to finish in the top five and hopefully earn many podiums. Lewis will again run national number 10.

Dubach Racing Development (DR.D) returns for its fourth consecutive season sponsoring Lewis. DR.D will provide its performance exhausts for Lewis’ Honda CRF450R Singles race bike and a custom exhaust for his Kawasaki 650 flat tracker. Penske Racing Shocks will provide the suspension tuning and components for both bikes.

Kicker has sponsored Lewis since he turned pro. It will lead a season-long promotion with Lewis to be announced at Daytona next month.

Lewis has some new sponsors for the 2011 season. Triple J Racing of York, Pennsylvania has come aboard to provide support. Lewis is returning to AXO which sponsored him during the 2008 AMA Pro Supermoto season. AXO will outfit Lewis with motocross gear for the Singles races, full leathers for the Twins races and boots for both type of events. Lewis will wear Violation Goggles, a new affordable, premium brand to the sport. Saddleman will provide the seat covers for his Kawasaki Twins bike.

“I’ve spent the past several months building on a solid program from last year,” said Lewis. “We learned a lot about the series and our bikes, took notes and will bring all that together to become a faster, stronger team that gives visibility to our sponsors.”

The team behind Lewis throughout the season will be Mike Scott, owner of Scott Powersports and master technician for Lewis’ program. Tom Draina will be the other technician. Alysha Lawrence of Axis Designs will provide all the design work for autograph posters, T-shirts, signage, website, and other items. Bryan Peckinpaugh with MotoPR is again leading Lewis’ publicity for the fourth consecutive season.

The AMA Pro GNC season begins at the Daytona Short Track on Thursday, March 10, followed the next night by round two on Friday, March 11. The two races, part of Daytona Bike Week, are held at the two-year old dirt track facility on the grounds of Daytona International Speedway.

Lewis added, “I’ve done really well at Daytona the past two years. I expect to be on the podium this year. I am confident we have everything in place to make that happen. After Daytona, we’ll keep building momentum.”

Race fans make sure to head to the Daytona Short Track double header on March 10-11 as part of Daytona Bike Week. Stop by the Scott Powersports pit to meet Lewis and grab an autograph poster, then watch him on the short track riding his DR.D/Penske Racing Shocks’ Honda CRF450R. As a result of the successful racing season last year, Coopersburg, Pennsylvania dealership Scott Powersports has formed SRC (Scott Racing Components). SRC will offer a Kawasaki 650 flat track package for teams looking to build a competitive race bike, similar to what Lewis races. The package will include a custom frame, tank, seat, Penske Racing Shock, FLUIDYNE radiator, and engine parts. SRC can be reached at 610-282-4800 or http://www.scottpowersports.com.
