  1. The past few days have made me realize what you do normally is reporting on the fast and fun times of motorcycle racing. As much as I enjoy that I must say you do a great job of giving us the not so fun facts of life, which is sometimes death. Thank you Larry.

    Thanks for the kind words. I remember when I fist got into motorcycle journalism the deaths of racers, especially from racing accidents, were often kept as quiet as possible. When I came on the scene I think I helped change that attitude by pointing out that these riders needed to be properly memorialized. I don’t want these great heroes to pass without giving them their due recognition. Rick Hocking obviously was an amazing talent.

  4. Larry……I agree that recognition should be given to our fallen heroes.

    In memory of the first rider I followed that died is the rider I donate in memory of to RRW’s air fence fund.

  5. I’ve known Rick a long time and enjoyed racing with him through the years and enjoyed his friendship. He will be missed by many.

  7. Rick Hocking,Mike Renzlow and I met in Fremont California in a vocational welding class in high school. We raced as novices at Hayward and Fremont raceways. Our first pro novice race together was at Ascot Park in Southern California. Both Rick and Mike are gone now but not forgotten. Good memories! Craig Michie, AKA, “PACKY” or 75Z.
