Washburn’s Inside Line

Jerry Washburn (381) and Richard Koenig (480) battle side by side in a WERA D Production Novice race through the carousel at Indianapolis Raceway Park in the mid-1980s. Both were riding Yamaha RZ350s. The RZ350 was the club racing motorcycle of choice in the mid-1980s hands down. No other motorcycle came close in terms of sheer numbers raced. Washburn held off Koenig to win this particular race.

  1. Gordon, That’s where the pits were at IRP, outside the carousel – the broad right hander that turned you towards the final turn hairpen.
