Ricky Carmichael (4) nails the holeshot and leads David Vuillemin (12) and Ernesto Fonseca (24) at the start of the second moto at the Troy (Ohio) National at Kenworthy’s Motocross Park on July 25, 2004. Carmichael went on to win the moto to finish 1-1 on his factory Honda CRF450R and score remain perfect on the season. Chad Reed (22) moved up to finish second overall on his factory Yamaha. Fonseca finished fourth overall, Vuillemin sixth. Carmichael went on to finish the season undefeated in 24 consecutive motos, winning 12 nationals. It marked one of the most amazing feats in the history of motorcycle racing period.
