Three World Champs and Bubba

Three future world champions and another who was potentially a future world champ battle in the AMA Superbike race at Memphis Motorsports Park in 1987. Wayne Rainey (6) leads archrival Kevin Schwantz (34), Doug Polen and Bubba Shobert (67). Rainey and Schwantz would go on to become GP World Champions, while Polen earned both World Superbike and Endurance titles. Shobert was just starting his GP career when a freak accident at the 1989 USGP resulted in a career-ending head injury.
