During the internet boom of the late 1990s a slew of young journalists from newly-minted websites arrived in the press rooms of AMA Superbike races across the country. After the boom turned to bust most of the Johnny-come-lately journos exited stage left.

Fortunately for a us a few of those guys stuck around and for my money Chris Martin has emerged as one of the best reads of anyone covering motorcycle road racing today.

For years Martin was forced to be somewhat politically correct as the chief Superbike contributor to the AMA’s own website. Even then his stories were sharp, witty and packed with amazing detail. Since leaving the official website and going over to SpeedTV Martin has flourished as an expert analyst of the entire road racing spectrum – from AMA, to World Superbike and MotoGP.
