Speedy Sassaman

Greg Sassaman burst onto the AMA Grand National circuit in 1975 as possibly the fastest rookie of the year (a crop that included Jay Springsteen). Sassaman, whose family owned a Harley-Davidson dealership in Macon, Ga., was a factory Harley rider and won impressively at the San Jose Mile in his rookie campaign with the legendary Carroll Resweber working as his tuner. Unfortunately for Sassaman he broke his arm in a national at Terre Haute and missed the rest of the ’75 season. Here Sassaman leads teammates Corky Keener and Gary Scott at Terre Haute. Despite missing the final third of the season he still finished 10th in the final standings.

  1. Greg Sassaman I understand knew a fellow biker Walt Carpenter. I lost touch with Walt and wondered if Greg is close enough to have his phone number. Or any information. I would be beholden to you.

    Thanks, Pat
