Dave Strobel (305) and Jimmy Filice practically touch as they run side by side coming out of the final turn at the Loudon Superbike race in 1986 as AMA Starter Bobby Lemming gives them the white flag signaling one lap to go. It was Yamaha factory rider Filice who won this battle to the checkered flag over privateer Strobel.

I don’t think the flagman was Duke Pennel, his left arm was injured in a racing accident and just hung down by his side,he had no use of it and I’m not sure if he was flagging that late in the 80’s.just my opinion,I could be wrong.

George,
You could be right. Now that I think about it, it’s possible that this is Bobby Lemming who copied Duke’s style to a tee.

I got another email telling that the starter in this photo was in fact Bobby Lemming and not Duke Pennell. Thanks again for the heads up.

I’m sure I do. I’m holding off on most of my black & white photos (unless I already have prints from the time. There’s currently no auto correction for black & white negs and I’m trying to decide how to proceed with those. The truth is most of my best race shots are black & white and will be bitchin’ when I finally get the stuff scanned.
What bike are you looking for?

Team Hacksaw #45 or Team Machine #89. We ran in AMA Endurance races at the Loudon National and Wera endurance 1989-91.

Larry, I would also be interested in any shots from the 89 Loudon Endurance. That was my one and only road race.
I had the oppurtunity to team with Pat Moroney and two other guys on a 600 Katana. I think we were team Tri State??
Unfortunately, I dont remember the Number. However, I would probably be the only rider with the classic style DT
leathers. Blue, white, with red 64 on the back. Also remember I got a new straight black helmet from the Shoei guy that weekend. Maybe look for the steel shoe? LOL. Awesome website. Please keep up the great work.
