Wayne Rainey celebrates his victory in the 1987 Daytona 200. This was the start of season that featured perhaps the most intense rivalry ever in AMA Superbike history. Rainey and Kevin Schwantz traded blows all season long with Rainey coming out on top by just nine points at the end of the ’87 campaign. Japanese road racing champ Satoshi Tsujimoto can be seen in the background.
