Mickey Kessler With a Strong Result at Binghamton (1979)

Binghamton AMA 500cc Motocross National in August of 1979. First moto and it’s Mickey Kessler, running second, getting the pit board from George Quay letting Mickey know that race leader Greg Theiss is 4 seconds ahead and Danny LaPorte is 15 seconds behind him. That’s how they ended up finishing in the moto with Theiss winning over Kessler. The other board you can see is likely for LaPorte, but it was Denny Swartz who ultimately finished 3rd in that moto after LaPorte’s bike quit running. (Rich Chenet photo)
