David Bailey Wins AMA Grand National Motocross Championship (1983)

David Bailey celebrates his victory of the first ever AMA Grand National Motocross title at the AMA Motocross Championship finale in Millville, Minnesota, in August of 1983. Bailey won the Wrangler money with a little help from his Honda teammate Bob Hannah, who may have allowed Bailey to pass him late in the second moto. Hannah was still going to be the 250cc class overall winner, so the position didn’t mean that much to him, but it meant Bailey won the AMA Grand National MX title by a single point over Mark Barnett.
