Cycle News reported that at the 1983 Daytona 200, David Aldana showed up with enough screws, pins and plates his left femur/hip/pelvis area to set airport metal detectors clanging. And then in the race Aldana had to overcome a fuel stop where race gas sloshed over his bike’s windscreen and he had to lift his head above the bubble to see where he was going. Despite those challenges Aldana raced a Paul Dahman/Daytona Budweiser Yamaha TZ750 to an excellent fifth in the 200.
