Carlos Serrano on the gas during a qualifying race for the Oakland Supercross in February of 1980. Carlos had some solid AMA results that season, including a top-10 finish (7th) at the Lakewood (Colorado) AMA MX National. But he really excelled in competitions outside the US. That same season Carlos won the Gran Premio Armistad, Mexico’s biggest motocross event. He also won the Copa de Cuba 125 and 250 class, Cuba’s most coveted national event. (Mitch Friedman photo)
