Marty Moates (25) on a Suzuki ahead of Yamaha mounted Kris Bigelow (54) at the Los Angeles Supercross in July of 1981. It was one of the last Supercross races for Moates, who retired from pro racing after the 1981 season. Just a year earlier Marty pulled off one of the all-time upsets of the sport when he won the 500cc USGP of Motocross at Carlsbad, California.
