Kent Howerton Races Brune’s Mill AMA National Hare Scrambles (1996)

A nice shot of Kent Howerton in the pits of the Brune’s Mill AMA National Hare Scramble in Columbus, Texas in March of 1996. The 41-year-old former multi-time MX champ entered the event and finished 4th overall. Howerton said he didn’t know what kind of shape he was in and rode conservatively for the first two hours. He said he felt good at that point and decided to pick up the pace on his KTM and began passing other competitors and got all the way up to fourth by the end of the race. (Cindy Lemere photo)
