Great shot of Dennis Hawthorne, an early Arenacross star out of Lewisville, Texas. Here Dennis is taking the checkered flag at the San Antonio Arenacross in 1987. I think Dennis raced Kawasaki for almost his entire pro career, which spanned from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. Dennis himself replied when he saw the photo: “San Antonio Mike Kidd promotion’s AX. Winning the Cash Dash on a 125. Zoom in on the lady just in front of my back wheel. She was digging it! Thanks for stoking the memories Rider Files! Let the Good Times Roll! That jump wasn’t big enough to do the no hander but I was excited for the win on the Tiddler against 250’s. Mike Kidd put each heat race winner into a four lap dash for cash that he would solicit from the crowd. Some of those paid better than the a main event win.
