Leading this talented trio is 1970 AMA Grand National Champion Gene Romero (3) being chased by Aussie standout Gregg Hansford (302) and Jim Allen (8 ) from Canada. Hansford moved up on his factory Kawasaki to score a podium finish in third behind winner Kenny Roberts and runner up Skip Aksland. Romero and Allen finished fourth and fifth respectively.
