Scott Doohan racing a Team Weathertight Ducati during his AMA Superbike debut at Mid-Ohio in 1994. Doohan, the older brother of Mick Doohan, was racing in America primarily to get an AMA Pro Racing license so that he might secure a wildcard for the USGP. Scott had raced at the Australian 500cc Grand Prix earlier that season and in his debut in the world championship earned an encouraging 12th-place on Harris Yamaha, so there was hope he might be able to race the USGP as a wildcard as well. Scott scored a solid eighth at Mid-Ohio (just behind Honda-mounted Mike Hale and just in front of Yoshimura Suzuki’s Tom Kipp). He accomplished that despite the team setting up his front fork too soft and it hard bottoming all around the track.
