Dean Adams over at SuperbikePlanet.com sent over another box of racing images to scan. Dean was great about capturing scenes in the pits, which not a lot of photographers did in the film days. He also often used Kodak Ektar negative film. Not many photographers used it because it was quite a bit more expensive than your standard Kodak Gold or Fujicolor film. There was a reason Ektar sold for a premium. It had a unique look. It was probably the sharpest color print film you could buy and it produced exceptionally saturated color, rivaling that of slide film. Check out this example of Ektar shot by Dean. It’s Jimmy Filice looking over the tire of fellow AMA 250GP competitor Keith Code. Notice how sharp the lettering on the leathers and bike are and check out the fantastic color! I’m having a blast scanning these images and Dean was good enough to allow me to share some of them here.
