Three-Time Speedway World Champion Ole Olsen (1974)

Speedway racer Ole Olsen checks the dirt on the track in Gothenburg, Sweden during the Speedway World Final in September of 1974. The 1971 World Champ didn’t have the best of meets that year, but he came back and won two more Individual World Championships in ’75 and ’78. Ole also won the World Long Track Championship in 1973. In addition to his individual success in 1979 Olsen won Speedway World Pairs Championship with Hans Nielsen and in 1978, 1981 and 1983 Olsen was the captain of Denmark’s winning Speedway World Team Cup teams. Ole is credited with popularizing Speedway racing in Denmark. (Michael Patrick photo)
