Triumph factory riders Gary Nixon and Paul Smart pose on their Triumph Triples at Daytona ’71. It appears Nixon’s bike has a wider front tire than Smart’s (Nixon on Goodyear, Smart on Dunlop). Nixon raced the 200 with a broken leg and was a bit off the pace and then dropped out with mechanical problems. Smart was the pole winner and led major portions of the race before his bike started smoking and fouled its sparkplugs.
