This photo taken at a flat track race in Imperial, California, in the mid-1960s shows a rider on what appears to be a brand-spanking new Triumph hitting the track for the first time. Even his leathers look fresh from the tannery. And check it out, he’s just released the clutch, the rear wheel is spinning, while the front wheel is still motionless. One can only hope he kept his pristine machine on two wheels in what may have been his, and the bike’s, first race. (Cycle News photo)
