Jordan Szoke, riding the No. 101 Suzuki GSXR1000, leads the way during the 2002 Parts Canada Superbike Championship race at Mosport International Raceway. Szoke is in front of Yamaha R1 mounted Michael Taylor (No. 15) and Francis Martin (No. 16), also Suzuki mounted. In the background you can just make out Owen Weichel (No. 8) on a Kawasaki ZX-7R and Frank Trombino on his (No. 3) Honda CBR1000RR.
On this day at Mosport it was Szoke taking the victory over Taylor and Weichel. Szoke went on to win that year’s Parts Canada Superbike Championship.
Szoke has built perhaps the most impressive record of any major national Superbike championship. Winning his first Pro Superbike title in Canada in 1998, he’s gone on to win a remarkable 11 Canadian Superbike Championships, including the most recent edition in 2016. He’s also the all-time wins leader in the series, with 59-career wins through 2016, more than double second on the list, Steve Crevier with 26 wins.

Part of the reason (and not to take anything away from Jordan) that he’s won so many Canadian races is because he hasn’t raced much elsewhere.
There was a time he wasn’t even allowed into the U.S. so he had to concentrate on home soil events.
Steve Crevier, Pascal Picotte, Mike Taylor, Rueben McMurter and numerous others did a lot of racing ‘out of country’ – had they stayed the results would likely show a lot differently.
The level of competition in Canada from about 2007 on hasn’t had the depth of early years either.
Szoke is a great racer, but there’s more to the tale (as usual)….
