I was struck by the talent level of the rider in this 600 Supersport photo from 1999, especially when I realized this group was racing outside the top-five! The depth of fields in late ‘90s Supersport racing was simply jaw dropping. In this excellent Henny Abrams photo Eric Bostrom (No. 32 factory Honda CBR600F4) leads a group that includes Jason Pridmore (No. 43 Yoshimura Suzuki), Takahito Mori (No. 47), Rich Oliver (No. 97 factory Yamaha), defending series champ Steve Crevier (No. 1 Yoshimura Suzuki), Tom Kipp (No. 16 Chaparral Mazda Suzuki), Owen Weichel (No. 8) and Roland Sands (in the back of the pack on No. 10 Performance Machine Yamaha). It’s almost mind-blowing to realize that only one in this group finished in the top five that day (Oliver). Bostrom finished 10th, Pridmore 11th, Mori DNF’d, Crevier was 7th, Kipp 14th and Sand was 15th! Makes your head spin doesn’t it? Nicky Hayden won the race that day over his brother Tommy Hayden and third-place Jamie Hacking. Aaron Yates was fourth.

I finished 16th behind sands. Think I was the best not sponsored privateer.

Eric Bostrom is on an F4i, not a CBR600RR.

Excuse me, F4. The F4i wasn’t until the 2001 model year.

Roland was on a Honda too, not a Yamaha. He raced a Yamaha TZ250 in 250GP but F4 in 600.
