Klinzmann and Church Talk Before Daytona BOTT (1984)

Harry Klinzmann and Gene Church have a friendly discussion before the start of the 1984 Daytona AMA Battle of the Twins race. Battle of the Twins, especially at Daytona, rivaled the popularity of Superbike and AMA Formula 1 during this era of the series simply because the motorcycles raced in the class were so unique. Klinzmann was racing the beautiful Krauser MKM1000 BMW. Church of course was on the incredible Lucifer’s Hammer Harley-Davidson XR1000, tuned by the legendary Don Tilley (on the right). Church went on the win the 50-mile Daytona BOTT final in a runaway. Klinzmann looked to have a good handle on the runner-up spot, but Malcolme Tunstall snuck up on his Ducati and drafted by him just before the finish line to take second. Klinzmann BOTT Championship. Klinzmann finished fourth in the final standings.
