(NEWS RELEASE)
SONOMA, Calif. (May 2, 2014) — The 20th annual 3J’s Motorcycle Track Day raised more than $30,000 for charity on Wednesday at Sonoma Raceway.
Nearly 120 riders converged on the raceway for a day of recreational riding around the 12-turn, 2.28-mile road course, which also featured a catered lunch, T-shirt, a 20th anniversary commemorative water bottle, charity raffle and an evening reception. All proceeds from the event will go to qualified youth groups in Sonoma County through Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway.
“You really can’t beat riding all day and supporting the charity,” said Livermore’s Ramsay Ackad. “It’s a great day, filled with great people and all for a great cause.”

3J’s Motorcycle Track Days have generated nearly $450,000 since 2003. Jere Starks, vice president of facilities at Sonoma Raceway, along with Jenah Smith, operations manager at Sonoma Raceway, and Santa Rosa’s Jim Randolph, run the 3J’s program. For more information, visit 3Jsmotorcycledays.com.
“The event we started a long time ago has morphed into something else,” said Starks. “It’s a charity-driven event that allows us to do what we love to do with people who want to share that experience.”
The event kicked off festivities for this weekend’s Sonomafest motorcycle extravaganza, which will feature the Arai Pacific Nationals, the second round of the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout presented by Yamaha, American Federation of Motorcycle(AFM) racing, Supermoto USA and American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA).
