JARED MEES REPORT – WILLOW SPRINGS – APRIL 27, 2014

(NEWS RELEASE)

It was that time of the year again, to be out in California for Eddie Mulder’s “BIG” Willow weekend race. He seems to step it up every year with a bigger purse. With that in mind, it was well worth bringing up Kenny Tolbert and the bikes to do it right. I was able to fly out from Michigan to meet him there.

On Saturday we practiced with no restrictors and tested out some small things. It all felt pretty good.

Sunday was the race. A big thanks to Specialty Fabrications for putting up the Dash for Cash money, to Digger Helm for the Big Purse and to Terry and Nancy Otton for the extra bonus money. Their generosity was very much appreciated by the riders.

Jared2014I won my Heat race, putting me second on the pole. In the Dash I got the hole shot but the race was red flagged. In the re-start I got another hole shot, then Sammy Halbert passed me, but there was another red flag. I was second off the line this time, Sammy got up front and won the big-paying Dash.

For the Main Event we made a couple of minor changes to the bike. I got the hole shot but Sammy got by me. I sat behind him and taunted him for some laps, passing him right before half-way, collecting the Ottons’ $1000.00, and winning the race with a good gap between us. It felt good to win the Main after taking a beating in the Dash.

Many thanks to team owner, Craig Rogers and to Kenny Tolbert for making the trip out there. Thanks to Digger Helm, to Eddie and Jodi Mulder, the Zimmermans, and to Terry and Nancy Otton for their added support. Coming home with a wad of cash donated by them all was wonderful. Thank you also to the fans who come out to support and cheer us on.

The next race I am planning on attending will be Steve Nace’s All Star race in Bucyrus OH on May 17, 2014.

Until then, Thank You for your support!! Jared Mees # 9
