Rick Shaw leads a three-way battle joined by Randy Texter and Dr. Dave Kieffer powering out of Daytona International Speedway’s International Horseshoe during the 1987 Daytona 200. Shaw was racing a South Dade Yamaha sponsored Yamaha FZ750, Texter on a Penn State Cycles Suzuki GSXR750 and Kieffer on the Rough Stock Racing Honda VFR750. In a field of 80 riders there were a lot of mini-battles that day. Kieffer came out on top in this trio of riders, finishing 20th, Texter was 39th and Shaw was 52nd. Unfortunately we lost both Shaw and Texter in recent years, both great racers who will never be forgotten.

I own Doc’s VFR, its immaculate and was always very well cared-for. WE plan to race it in WERA and AHRMA this summer and it’ll definitely be at Barber in the Fall.
