Badger and Pekowsky at Blackhawk (1989)

Keith Badger (No. 887) and Jim Pekowsky (No. 151) have completely different lines as they race between turns four and five at Blackhawk Farms Raceway on August 27, 1989. Pekowsky had a memorable weekend at Blackhawk that day. He won the WERA A Superbike and B Superbike novice races riding a Suzuki GSXR750 borrowed from John Eidenberger. Not only did Pekowsky win the novice races, but he sprinted up from the second wave and beat nearly all the experts too. In B Superbike Pekowsky raced all the way up to second overall, before expert Phil Pummell used the power of his Honda VFR750 Superbike to motor past Pekowsky on the straightaway coming to the checkered flag to move him back to third overall. Pekowsky was easily the standout performer in the novice ranks that day and he earned the respect of a lot of experts as well.
