Craig Vetter would like your help. Vetter is trying to track down Lynn Griffis. Lynn was the Miss Camel Pro Series for nearly a decade, starting in 1976 and going into the early ‘80s.

Lynn was more than a pretty face handing out trophies, the riders adored her and with good reason. She took genuine interest in the sport and got to know the riders and their family and friends. When something bad happened Lynn was the first one there offering to help any way she could.

She also promoted the sport with great enthusiasm, showing up with the riders to do pre-race media tours and trust me; R.J. Reynolds knew what they were doing. Sports writing was a male

dominated world and when Lynn showed up to these media functions and turned on the charm, you’d better believe the next year when the series came to town these guys were going to show up for the press luncheons and write preview stories.

No other Miss Camel seemed to click with the riders, the fans and the media like Lynn.

So influential was Lynn that a lot of people, including Vetter, think she deserves to be in the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.

The problem is no one seems to know how to find her. Craig says that Hank Scott has a friend who ran into Lynn at a Mall in Nashville last year. She was over visiting some friends. He said she lives in Switzerland now. Neil Keen has a similar story:  “I have a friend, who saw her last year in Nashville –recognized her, and talked to her a few minutes — said she live in the islands, Maui, I think.”

So I’m putting out an APB on Lynn Griffis. If you know how she can be reach send me an email at lawrencemedia@hotmail.com

Let’s find Lynn and give her the recognition she deserves.

  1. I think her name is Lynn Rafe now and I think she may be in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Looks a lot like her and her maiden name is Griffis. This Lynn is originally from Belpre Ohio and not Bessemer Alabama.
