MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (August 14, 2013) – The 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will make its inaugural visit to the greater Salt Lake City area this Saturday, August 17, for the debut of the Built Ford Tough Utah National from Tooele’s state-of-the-art Miller Motorsports Park. The new event will serve as the penultimate round of the 12-race series, which features the most talented field of competitors in over four decades of competition.

The Built Ford Tough Utah National will be the first professional outdoor motocross event to be held in the state of Utah since 1973. The event will take place on a brand-new motocross track constructed in the northeast corner of MMP’s East Road Course. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto looks to continue his success this season by becoming the first 450 Class winner at the new venue, which could result in the points leader clinching his second 450 Class Championship with one round to go in the series.

Last round, Villopoto took one step closer to becoming the 2013 450 Class Champion after sweeping both motos at the Built Ford Tough Unadilla National to claim his fifth overall victory of the season. Villopoto now enjoys a 44-point lead over reigning 450 Class Champion Ryan Dungey with just four motos remaining in the championship.

Red Bull KTM’s Dungey has been Villopoto’s toughest challenger this season with four overall victories to date, capturing five moto wins in the process. Dungey will look tokeep his title hopes alive this weekend in Utah, where the Minnesota native still has the opportunity to challenge Villopoto’s lead.

GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac extended his points lead in the 250 Class by virtue of a 1-1 moto sweep at Unadilla, marking six consecutive moto wins through the last three rounds. Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen sits 39 points behind Tomac in the championship standings, as the duo is set to face off this Saturday at the penultimate round in Utah.

The new, 1.1-mile track, designed by renowned motocross track architect Marc Peters, was constructed over the winter of 2012-13. The course includes a unique uphill start, two huge triple step-up jumps that launch the riders high into the air, some tricky off-camber turns and other very large jumps. The Built Ford Tough Utah National will be unique in the world of outdoor motocross asMiller Motorsports Park houses amenities that other racing series and fans have come to love – such as the garages, paved paddock, kart track, zip line, Clubhouse, covered grandstand, corporate suites, permanent cafes and restrooms.

The Built Ford Tough Utah National will feature live coverage of the first set of motos on NBC Sports Network and Allisports.com beginning at 3 p.m. ET, followed by live coverage of the second motos on Fox Sports 2 and Allisports.com, beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
