Steve Crevier (No. 73) on a Team Ciampini Suzuki GSXR750, leads a group of riders through the first turn in the 1989 Daytona 200 by Arai. Racing behind Crevier are (from right) James Whitham (No. 45), Kurt Hall (No. 40), Bill Loomis (No. 33), Tim Ledbetter (No. 148), Paul Ziechang (No. 120) and David Smith (No. 99). This was a year of high attrition among the factory riders and it was John Ashmead who came through to earn the surprise victory.
